Baby giraffe at Greater Vancouver Zoo gets a name

By

ALDERGROVE (NEWS1130) – Say hello to….Bonnie!  The baby giraffe at the Greater Vancouver Zoo now has a name, thanks to her mom, who made the selection from three suggestions sent in by the public.

The zoo received over a thousand entries to its “Name the Giraffe” contest, but didn’t make the choice on its own.  Instead, three zookeepers each held a single piece of paper with one name on it, and let Eleah, Bonnie’s mom, make the selection, using a bamboo shoot as a pointer.

Bonnie, who was born exactly three months ago, is now 7′ 5″ tall, and weighs approximately 300 pounds!
