Domestic violence cases to have a second look

By

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – The provincial government is taking steps to reduce the number of domestic violence cases province-wide.

Solicitor General Kash Heed has announced a death review panel within the Coroners Service will be established to look at cases that took place between 1995 and 2009.

It will also create a standard set of bail conditions to be requested for accused that have been identified as high-risk.

Cross-agency domestic violence policies will also be developed involving all ministries, policing and service agencies.

The announcement comes following the inquest into the Oak Bay killings, where Peter Lee killed his son, wife, in-laws and then committed suicide.
