Park board looking at a smoking ban

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The next meeting of the Vancouver Park Board is shaping up to be a showdown.

Commissioners will gather on February 1st to discuss a controversial proposal to ban smoking from parks and beaches in the city.  The board will look over a recommendations contained in a staff report, more than 18 months after the idea was first raised.

The B.C. Civil Liberties Association has come out against the idea, and hopes the public is allowed to have a say before the ban is put to a vote.
