Man attacked while others watched

KELOWNA (NEWS1130) – Mounties in Kelowna are investigating a brutal attack on a homeless man Sunday night.

Constable Steve Holmes says four teens mercilessly kicked the 41-year-old victim in the face, stomach, and legs.

But the sad part of the story is apparently witnesses decided not to help the victim.

“The man was able to see when he was on the ground that people were coming and going from their cars. Obviously there was quite a commotion. He was screaming for help, and if he could see those people, there’s no doubt those people could have seen what was going on,” says Holmes

The victim managed to limp aboard a bus where the driver called police.

Mounties later found him at a homeless shelter with a broken nose and possible broken ribs.

They believe the attack was unprovoked.
