More medal hopes for Canada

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Four days down, four medals for Canada – and our athletes will try to add to the count today.

With the postponement of alpine events in Whistler, our men’s skiers will have to wait for redemption on the hills after some disappointing runs yesterday.

Our biathletes return to the course in the pursuit.  Jean Philippe Leguellec is following up on a best ever Canadian 6th place finish in the sprint Sunday.

While a medal may be our of reach, there’s still two more runs for the Canadian women in the luge.

After yesterday’s silver from Mike Robertson in the snowboard cross, Dominique Maltais, Maëlle Ricker and the women’s team try to equal or better his results.

We head back to the Oval in Richmond for the women’s 500-meter speed skating where Christine Nesbitt is competing, though her specialties tend to be longer distances.

It’s also day one for our curlers, men’s hockey team and figure skater Patrick Chan kicks off his trek for gold with the short program.
