REVELSTOKE (NEWS1130) – The coming of warm spring weather may make it more tempting to head out into the backcountry. The mild temperatures are putting avalanche experts on high alert.
The Canadian Avalanche Association warns the already dangerous conditions seen near Revelstoke could become even worse over the next few days.
This warning comes ahead of the final weekend of a month that has seen two huge fatal snowslides in the area over the past couple of weeks, as well as the one nearly a week ago on Eagle Mountain.
Karl Klassen with the Canadian Avalanche Association tells the Province newspaper “whenever there’s a warming trend all heck breaks loose.”
