New owners on the menu at B.C. restaurant chain

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A B.C.-based chain of family restaurants has a new owner with plans for national expansion and going upscale.  The Pantry, with 16 restaurants in B.C. and two in Alberta has been bought by RAMMP Hospitality Brands–a private company headed by former Boston Pizza CEO Mike Cordoba.

They plan to open more than 100 Pantry locations in the next seven years, starting with Northern Alberta followed by Saskatchewan and Manitoba before moving farther east.  They plan to re-brand the franchise chain with an “updated identity” and plans to “expand its appeal to a younger demographic.”

The Pantry was founded in 1975 by Mike and Violet Hoffman in Abbotsford, who have retired. Their son Mike is a partner in the new group.
