British medical journal criticizes Harper’s Conservatives on abortion stance

A top British medical journal has criticized the Harper Government, after they openly refused to fund abortions for women in developing countries.
The Lancet editorial stated that it is “hypocritical and unjust” that Canada deprives women abroad of access to safe abortions, when Canadian women are able to have them at home.
However, the Lancet applauded Canada’s decision to make maternal and child health a priority at the G8 summit in June. Nonetheless, it said it takes exception to the “conscious decision” to omit abortion funding from that plan.
