Police release 911 call made after little girl is killed

HOODSPORT, WA. (NEWS1130) – Pure desperation. A chilling recording of the 911 call has been released after the death of a little girl from Abbotsford in Hoodsport, Washington Sunday night.

The call, made moments after five-year-old Clare L. Shelswell’s throat was cut is very difficult to listen to.  Mother Sarah Wilson, a nurse by profession, tries frantically to save Shelswell’s life and is heard hysterically screaming and crying as she tries to calm herself and comfort her dying daughter.

Some staff with KOMO Newsradio in Seattle are seeking therapy after having to repeatedly deal with all 23 minutes of the recording.

Wilson released a statement yesterday in which she called her daughter’s death the “hardest thing I have ever had to deal with.”  She has asked that her family be left to grieve in peace and expressed thanks to the medics and police involved.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Peter Wilson, the victim’s stepfather, has not been formally charged with first degree murder, however, prosecutors are considering whether they’ll go after the death penalty.

The family was on vacation when the couple began arguing about discipline.  According to court documents obtained by KOMO Newsradio, Wilson told his wife not to worry and that he would “take care of it.”  Both parents have admitted Peter Wilson is bipolar and was on medication for his condition.
