Rogers bargain cell option has competitors taking notice

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Bound by contracts and burdened by fees, the price of a cellphone in Canada is a favourite gripe for consumers.  However, with one more discount brand coming cellphone users are hoping for a break.

Most people get grumpy about their lack of options, yet few are willing to go without a cellphone.  So, News1130 hit the streets to find out if you could give up your cellphone.  One woman said she couldn’t imagine not having one and could not go back to a landline.

Another man we spoke with said these days you almost have to have a cell phone, adding that “it’s expected.”

Consumers can only hope competition keeps its promise, reacting to Rogers decision to go discount with Chatr.  Meanwhile, Public Mobile insists where others flirt with cheap, it will just get cheaper.
