No smoking ban for Vancouver parks and beaches…for now

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you feel the urge to light up a smoke at parks and beaches in Vancouver, you still can without fear of a fine – at least for now.

The Park Board has changed its mind about raising the fire hazard from ‘high’ to ‘extreme’, and that means its smoking ban didn’t kick in yesterday.

That could still change in time for the long weekend though. The board plans to reassess tomorrow. A permanent smoking ban at parks and beaches is still set to take effect September 1st.
