What’s happening this B.C. Day long weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The B.C. Day holiday weekend is one of the busiest of the summer, and we have a long list of stuff for you to do on the long weekend.

Starting today, Pride Weekend launches in Vancouver. The hugely popular Pride Parade is Sunday at noon.

The Celebration of Light finale is Saturday night in English Bay, and it will be packed on the West End all weekend.

Smell the pig! The Canadian National Barbecue Championships fire up at 7 p.m. in Whistler and run right through the weekend.

The Sun Festival is in Tsawwassen, the Spirit of the Sea Festival is in White Rock, the Harmony Arts Festival is in West Vancouver, and the Powell Street Festival celebrates our Japanese-Canadian heritage at Oppenheimer Park.

Head east and the Agrifair continues in Abbotsford, as well as the Gospel Blues festival will have Chilliwack jumping.

Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival has a host of children’s activities, a parade, wacky bed races and a showcase of Squamish’s heritage and community spirit. It runs until Sunday.

More than 120 skydivers from around the world are gathering in Abbotsford for the annual North West Skydive Boogie to perform fly stunts and high speed landings. It starts Saturday at the Abbotsford Skydive Centre and is free to attend.
