North Vancouver Red Sox win provincial title

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A local little league baseball team has claimed the senior level provincial championship, and the reward is a ticket to the Nationals in New Brunswick this week. The team has been to the provincial finals many times, but has never won one before.

Keith Kawamoto, coach with the North Vancouver Red Sox, says his team has come a long way. “Last eight years that I’ve coached them, this group has been so dedicated and they worked really hard. To see the ups and downs that they have been through, I couldn’t be happier for the boys.”

Casey Dubois is a 16-year-old catcher for the team, and says if they walk away with the national title too, then it’s off to Maine for the Little League World Series. “If we make it to the World Series, that is just going to be one heck of a ride, let me tell you. We’ll be jumping up and down for years, and we’ll always be saying – ‘I remember that time’…”
