The Celebration of Light to end with a Tribute to China

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s going to be a very busy night in the West End. Not only is it Pride Weekend, it’s also the fourth and final night of Celebration of Light.

Hundreds of thousands are expected to gather in English Bay to see the tribute to China. The show, themed the “Butterfly Lovers legend,” will wrap up the fireworks season in the West End. Spectators will be taken through periods of Chinese history in what’s promised to be an exotic interplay of sound and colour.

Vancouver Police will be out in force and are reminding people there is a zero tolerance policy for alcohol on beach and on the water.

The usual road closures are back as well. That means several roads in Kits will be closed to traffic starting at 6:00, while road closures in the West End start at 7:30.

All of those closures will be lifted at 11:30 tonight.
