Skimmed debit cards have one credit union open extra hours

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – VanCity Credit Union is taking the extraordinary step in opening some branches today and holiday Monday.  It says it’s because some members have had their ATM cards compromised.

The bank has alerted a number of its customers to get their cards re-pinned as soon as possible.  The company is not saying how many people may have been affected, or how their private information has been compromised.

Skimming is when personal information from a person’s card is siphoned off at either a cash machine or a point of sale terminal.

Members have been told the branches at Hastings and Kamloops Streets, Main Street and 26th Avenue, Commercial Drive and First Avenue and Station Square will be open the extra hours to address the problem.
