Taking the bus in the summer can be stinky business

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – People who use public transit know all too well that the hot summer weather can make the daily commute a bit uncomfortable. We went out to speak with bus riders about some of their experiences.

Jacob was waiting to hop on the 99 B-Line, which is always packed with people during the rush hour. He says the bus could use a few of those pine tree air fresheners. “I have to say the interesting array of smells that one encounters on their daily commute to work; anything from sweat, to grease to. You name it – i’ve smelled it.”

Alanna says it’s the lack of personal space that bugs her. “Just the fact that there’s not any air conditioning and you’re so close to all the people. You end up getting off the bus and it’s not your own sweat. It’s kind of gross.”

She says there should be dress code for riding the bus in the summer time.
