VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A terrible Thursday night on the highways.
A fatal crash closed Highway One in both directions at Emory Creek Thursday night – that’s several kilometres south of Yale.
The highway will likely open after midnight making it difficult to get to Boston Bar, Lytton or Cache Creek until then.
And police in Abbotsford also dealt with a fatal crash.
Police say a black GMC Jimmy collided with a 5-ton farm truck on the Interprovincial Highway near Wells Line Road around 3:30pm.
The driver of the Jimmy died at the scene.

Carnage on Vancouver Island as well.
Two men are dead after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on the Island Highway near Nanaimo.
Police say the 91 year old driver of the car suffered some sort of medical problem and was trying to pull over into the emergency lane.
The 29 year old motorcyclist slammed into the back of the car at a high rate of speed.  He was air lifted to VGH where he later died.
The 91 year old also suffered life threatening injuries and died in hospital.  Both men were from Nanaimo; no names have been released.

A third motorcyclist also died when he lost control of his bike on the Island Highway in a separate crash that happened later in the afternoon. The 56 year old was air lifted to Victoria General but died from his injuries.
