Two B.C. men arrested in global child exploitation ring

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A former Vancouver teacher is one of two B.C. men arrested in a suspected global child exploitation network operating on Facebook.

Vancouver Police say Christopher Charles Ingvaldson was arrested in June and has been charged with four counts related to child exploitation. He used to teach at St. George’s, a private boys’ school.

Meanwhile, Constable Steve Holmes with Kelowna RCMP says a man was arrested in that city. Police also seized a computer. “However, at that point in time, there was not enough evidence to be able to support a charge.  So this person was released without charges at this point.  The investigation continues, however, in consultation with Crown counsel in order to facilitate charges for distribution of child pornography.”

Internet safety experts say it’s rare for people to share child porn using Facebook because the network has a very strong anti-child exploitation unit and always reports instances of abuse to police. Australian police launched the undercover sting in March. They say six Britons, three Australians and the two Canadians are linked to the ring that operated on Facebook.
