Divorce insurance for the unhappily ever after

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Tammy Wynette spelled it ‘D-I-V-O-R-C-E’ but more of the unhappily wed are spelling it ‘I-N-S-U-R-A-N-C-E.’  WedLockDivorce.com is a company offering a new type of casualty insurance for when you get unhitched.

CEO John Logan tells News1130 there was a very practical reason behind the creation of the website — his divorce!  He explains he was wiped out.  “You remember that movie with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner called ‘The War of the Roses’? My friends called mine ‘The War of the Logans’.  It was not nice.”

So, Logan launched the company on August 5th and the ‘cautiously optimistic’ started buying.  It costs about $16 a month for every $1,250 unit of coverage up to a $250,000.  The average policy, so far, is worth about $30,000.

You can only claim after four years of marriage but if you are extra pessimistic, you can purchase a rider or reduce the wait-time to three years.
