Local restaurant snatches Best Restroom Award

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – You will be doing your business in style at this restroom in Burnaby. The facilities at the Cactus Club location on Byrne Road have been named the best in Canada by the Cintas Corporation.

The annual Best Restroom contest scours the country’s restaurants, hotels and convention centers for the classiest places to relieve yourself. Cactus Club was one of the five finalists that were selected based on hygiene, style and open access to the public.

President of Cactus Club Restaurants Richard Jaffray says it’s about creating a holistic experience for their guests. “My philosophy about restaurant experience is to really think about the customers throughout their entire experience from when they walk in the door, to when they sit in the dining room and, I think some businesses tend to stop when they go to their restroom.”

He says some of their customers send their friends for a trip to the restroom just to have a look. “We had customers say that sometimes the restrooms are nicer than their apartments. It definitely created some good word of mouth for us.”

The Shangri-la Hotel in Vancouver was also a finalist in the competition.
