Hornby Street bike lane vote goes tomorrow

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – They feel ignored and the frustration is rising.  Vancouver City Council votes tomorrow on a separated bike lane trial along Hornby Street.

Laura Jones with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says the city has consistently ignored concerns from business owners.  “It’s surprising, it’s frustrating and I’m not sure why they’re doing that because I think it’s undermining, ultimately, their own agenda.  Local business should be included in anyone’s definition of a green agenda and that’s not happening with this project.”

They have new numbers showing 92 per cent of businesses along Hornby expect a loss in sales with the current bike lane proposal, averaging 23 per cent or about $83,000 a year.
