VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Canadians don’t like distracted driving, but it’s still something the majority of us are doing on a regular basis. A survey shows a shocking amount of people are not really paying attention when behind the wheel.
Cranking up the radio, changing a CD, or chatting on the phone are just a few of the things a whopping 75 per cent of Canadians say they do when driving.
The survey from Allstate Canada aims to remind people these simple, everyday tasks carried out in a car can be deadly. A quarter of Canadians say they, or someone they know has been in an accident caused by a distracted driver.
Even more reason to cut it out, as experts say taking your eyes off the road for just five seconds while driving 90 km/h, is like driving the length of a football field totally blind.
