RCMP catch dangerous speeders

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Dangerous driving charges are being considered after police spotted two motorcycles speeding through school zones and running red lights yesterday afternoon.

Mounties in a helicopter had the cameras rolling when they saw the bikes travelling at up to 200km/hr between Coquitlam and North Van. The film shows drivers running multiple red lights, passing on double lines, shoulders and exit lanes, nearly colliding with oncoming traffic, and doing in excess of 120 km/hr through a school zone during school hours. One of the motorcycles had a passenger on the back.

When officers tried to pull them over, one stopped and the other took off for Burnaby. Police claim the biker almost hit some pedestrians at Joyce Street before crashing near Imperial Boulevard.

Both bikes have been impounded for a week for speeding.
