Key events in Col. Williams case

July 15, 2009 – Col. Russell Williams takes command of CFB Trenton.

September 2009 – Two women are sexually assaulted during two separate home invasions in the Tweed area.

Nov. 25, 2009 – Cpl. Marie France Comeau, 38, found dead in her Brighton, Ont., home.

Jan. 29, 2010 – Jessica Lloyd, 27, reported missing after she fails to show up for work.

Feb. 8 – Williams is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Comeau and Lloyd. He is also charged with two counts of forcible confinement and sexual assault in relation to the September attacks.

April 29 – Williams is charged with 82 break and enter and theft related offences.

Aug. 26 – Williams waives his right to a preliminary inquiry and is committed to trial.

Oct. 7 – Lawyer for Williams tells court his client intends to plead guilty on all counts.

Oct. 18 – Williams enters formal plea, immediately followed by several days of sentencing arguments and victim impact statements.
