Targeted shooting in Richmond

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – There are two victims and there were two crime scenes, but Richmond RCMP are saying very little about a targeted shooting last night in Richmond.

Mounties say it happened around 6 p.m. but still aren’t sure exactly where it took place.

At Westminster Highway and No.3 Road in Richmond the driver’s side of a newer model white BMW was visibly covered in bullet holes.

Just minutes away, police were rerouting traffic as they investigated on a dark stretch of Westminster Highway between No.6 and No.7 Roads.

Corporal Sherrdean Turley isn’t saying what they’re looking for. “We want to make sure that we have it closed long enough that we do maintain scene integrity and maintain any evidence that may be present.”

As a precaution, Richmond Hospital heightened security after admitting the two victims, who are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the two men who were shot have not been released. It isn’t known if they have any gang ties.
