Expert says teenage crimes like Proctor murder are rare

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A criminologist says the level of brutality that we saw from the two teenaged boys who pleaded guilty to the first degree murder of a Victoria girl are very uncommon.

Raymond Corrado with Simon Fraser University has studied youth crime for three decades and says the lack of remorse and the level of planning that we’ve heard about in the Kimberly Proctor case is extremely rare. He tells the Vancouver Sun this level of violent behaviour could be caused by a mix of genetic and environmental factors and an assessment is needed to figure out whether the boys have psychopathic personalities

In March, Proctor’s badly burned body was found under a bridge on the Galloping Goose Trail near Victoria.
