Microsoft Kinect goes on sale at midnight

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The world of video games will change in a big way starting at midnight, with the release of Microsoft Kinect.

Until now, full-body motion video was only seen in movies or television shows, but now, it will become a reality. With the Kinect, gamers don’t need a controller because they are the controller. They can act as the controller both in-game and on menu screens.

Craig Flannagan with Xbox Canada says, “This is revolutionary; experiences like you’ve never seen before that will blow your mind.”

Add in voice and facial recognition, and Flannagan tells us the possibilities are endless. “You can go a lot of places… What we’re focused on right now is making sure that Kinect is an amazing, fun, and intuitive experience for gaming.”

Flannagan is hoping Kinect will appeal to the casual gamer or even the non-gamer. “While other people are putting stuff in your hands, we’re taking it out. There’s nothing between you and your game. There’s no moves to learn. If you know how to kick a ball, you know how to play Kinect Soccer.”

Kudo Tsunoda, the system’s Creative Director, says seeing is believing. “It’s always the best thing for anybody, give it a try and then love to see what people think.”

But there are a number critics who say the system has numerous issues. Either way, it is sure to dominate sales this holiday season.
