A battle in the ‘centre of the Universe’

By

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks are in the centre of the Universe to play the Maple Leafs today.  It is hockey central at its finest in Toronto.  Nobody in town even cares the team from Vancouver has won seven of its last eight games, or that the team found the scoresheet six times in their last outing.

The big news of the day surrounds top prospect Nazem Kadri.  He will make his season debut for Toronto after being recalled from the AHL.

Vancouver head coach Alain Vigneault will stick with a winning combination. There will be no line-up changes.  Keith Ballard sits for a third straight scratch on defence and the new fourth line of Mario Bliznak between Tanner Glass and Rick Rypien is still intact. That means winger Peter Schaefer will sit out again.

Roberto Luongo will start in goal for Vancouver.  Daniel Sedin has three goals and three assists over the last five games and Henrik Sedin has one goal and five assists over that span.  They lead the Canucks in scoring with 18 points apiece.

This is the first of two meetings this season between the Canadian rivals.  Toronto will be in Vancouver for a Saturday matinee on December 18th.

The puck drops this afternoon at 4 p.m.
