The city wants to upgrade dangerous intersections

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It has been a deadly year with five pedestrians being killed around Vancouver.  And with more and more people walking these days, the city wants to pinpoint the most dangerous intersections.

A motion going to city council today will ask staff to work with police to figure out which intersections need safety upgrades.

Councillor Heather Deal tells the Province newspaper that 318,000 walking trips are taken around the city every day and pedestrian traffic is growing faster than any other type of transportation downtown.

One SFU professor suggests making certain roads in the downtown core completely car free.
