CHETWYND (NEWS1130) – The largest wind farm in BC has started to generate electricity.
Plutonic Power and its partner, a division of General Electric, are producing electricity from nine wind turbines at the farm near Chetwynd.
The Dokie Wind Project fell into bankruptcy protection but was acquired by Plutonic and GE, with construction resuming last December. The target to have all 48 turbines in operation and providing power to BC Hydro is the first quarter of 2011.
The $228 million project is predicted to generate enough electricity to power 33,000 homes.
