Two more “sleeps” until the big man comes

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Santa Claus is coming to town! In fact, he’ll be here on Sunday for the Rogers Santa Claus Parade in downtown Vancouver.

News1130 had a chat with the ‘man in red’ earlier this week, as he was fine-tuning his sleigh and he has a wish for our meteorologist. “Hopefully no precipitation for all the people out there. If they have to put up umbrellas, then they won’t be able to see as well. Ho ho ho!”

Russ Lacate says he doesn’t want a lump of coal on the 25th. “I’ll be heeding Santa’s request for this Sunday. I’d say dress in layers. It will be cool and crisp, and it will cloud over. But it will be completely dry.”

This year’s event features more than 60 marching bands, choirs, festive floats, and community groups. The parade starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, and you are encouraged to bring a donation for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.

The parade will run along West Georgia and Howe Streets, starting at West Georgia and Broughton, and finishing at Howe and Davie.

If you can’t make it to downtown Vancouver for the parade, catch up on all the fun next week:

Citytv will broadcast the parade on Saturday Dec. 11th 6-7p.m., and Sunday Dec. 12th 7-8 p.m.
OMNI BC will broadcast the parade in Cantonese-Mandarin) on Saturday Dec 11th 8-9 p.m., and again in Punjabi on Sunday Dec 12th 6-7 p.m.
