Giant cut from Team Canada selection camp

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Giants forward Brendan Gallagher was one of nine cuts made Tuesday at the Canadian World Junior Championship hockey team selection camp.

Gallagher says it was tough to make an impression in two days; he also has no regrets as heads back to the Giants.  He adds that next year he will go back to camp and do everything he can to make the club.

Chilliwack Bruins forward Ryan Howse was also cut.  Still at the camp is Burnaby native Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.  The 17-year-old who plays for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League was one of the youngest players at the camp.

The cuts reduced the camp roster to 33 players.  The final 22-man team will be announced Wednesday.

The World Junior Championship begins Boxing Day in Buffalo, New York.
