VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Christmas season isn’t just about the presents, it’s also an especially holy time of year for many faiths. But there’s been a big drop in the number of young people in Canada who consider religion very important.
Religious leaders hoped they would return to the churches, temples, and synagogues, but numbers show more than half of young Canadians have no religion or never attend a service. Just over a fifth consider religion very important, down from 34 per cent in 2002.
According to the Globe and Mail, religious scholars seem to think one of the causes is young adults increasingly see organized religion as being out of touch with reality.
