Unions for Postal Workers need your help

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Postal workers’ unions are asking you to keep an eye out for their workers as they make their rounds this Christmas season.  The call comes after a letter carrier was assaulted in Whalley and another worker got into a road rage fight in Vancouver.

Stephen Gale with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers covering Surrey says after the attack on the 44-year old letter carrier at 105th Street and 132nd Avenue, they’re telling other workers to be very careful.  “Canada Post security [is] continuing to monitor the area where the attack occurred and they’re still escorting the letter carrier that’s working in that area.”

Robert Mulvin with the Union for Vancouver Postal Workers says after that road rage incident where a Canada Post driver was attacked, they’d also like your help.  “Be aware of when you’re out there, we are too and we need your assistance, particularly [with] something as rash as the recent things.”

The unions say both injured workers are recovering at home.

Canada Post says it can’t comment on the attacks as police are still investigating but security continues to monitor the route in Surrey.
