Canada blasts the Czechs

BUFFALO, NY (NEWS 1130) – Team Canada remain unbeaten at the IIHF U20 World Junior Hockey Championship, with a 7-2 win Tuesday afternoon over the Czech Republic.

The Czech’s stunned the capacity crowd of Canadian supporters at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York, when Antonin Honejsek scored just 0:49 seconds into the game. But Canada would respond with two late goals in the first from Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz to give Canada a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The second and third periods would prove to be all Canada, as the flood gates opened for the red and white. Canada would score a total of seven unanswered goals before the Czech’s would stop the bleeding with a late goal in the third, but the damage was already done. Canada win their second game of the tournament and will face Sweden next on Friday.
