Pest control companies want funding for education programs

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – Some exterminators are hoping BC will follow in Ontario’s footsteps and join the fight against bedbugs.  That province has invested $5 million in a public awareness campaign.

Abell Pest Control‘s Mike Heimbach says the increase of bedbugs has created some interesting situations for his employees.

“We’ve worked in cases where people have been anemic and had to go to the hospital and the ambulance actually takes them to the hospital naked, except for just a hospital robe.  It’s because they won’t allow anyone in or out of the house because it’s so infested with bedbugs.”

Heimbach adds the funding would be best spent on education and training for property managers.
