Vancouver police warn about sexual predator

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver police are releasing pictures of the man they believe sexually assaulted at least three women.

The first attack happened near the Granville Street Bridge in 2009. There have been two more attacks since then, in November of 2009 and June of last year, both on Vancouver’s West Side (see map). Police say DNA evidence confirms the same man sexually assaulted all three victims.

The head of the Sex Crimes Unit Matt Clarke says the same person could be responsible for other unsolved cases. “Talking about potential linkages, we have eight files, we have three confirmed by DNA, and the others we are looking at very hard to see if any steps were missed.”

All of the women were under 30, and on their way home from the entertainment district late at night. All of them suffered emotionally and one had scrapes and bruises from being forcibly thrown to the ground.

The suspect is described as tanned or olive-skinned, in his 20s or 30s, with dark hair and an average build. He is of medium height and was well-groomed. To see the surveillance video of the suspect, go to VPD’s website.

If you have any information, you are asked to call VPD at 604-717-0602.
