Canadians praising compassion amongst the violence in Egypt

CAIRO, EGYPT (NEWS1130) – Cairo is still full of compassionate people, despite the violent protests. That’s what some Canadians have to say about the Egyptian people who have helped save their lives.

Angela Armsby of Maple Ridge says the Egyptians in her neighbourhood began barricading and defending the area with whatever they could. She credits them with keeping her family safe from looters and prison escapees.

“People are so kind and they will literally give you the shirt of their backs,” she says.

Armsby missed her first flight to get out of the country. “I was standing in this parking lot crying with my family, and these three men came up to us who probably don’t even earn $100 a month with a box of tissues. They offered to give me money and a place to stay.”
