Catching up with Olympic gold medalist Ashleigh McIvor

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Last winter, Cypress Mountain was the setting for a lot of Canadian victories, including Ashleigh McIvor’s gold medal win in women’s ski cross.

McIvor says it’s weird to be recognized by strangers when she is out and about. “I’m naturally a shy person. I’ve just worked myself to become outgoing. So it still kind of makes me uncomfortable. But it’s certainly flattering.”

McIvor says she has been extremely busy thanks to travelling, speaking engagements and media appearances.

She says the most vivid memory she has of her gold medal run was crouching in the starting gate, waiting to go. Everything after that is a blur until she had her medal hanging around her neck.

McIvor is in Whistler this weekend for all the Olympic anniversary festivities.
