Black: No honeymoon for new premier

By

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – With a new premier chosen next week, and a leadership vote still months away, the provincial NDP is in danger of losing some of the spotlight. But its interim leader says the Liberal honeymoon won’t last long.

At the party’s provincial council meeting in Burnaby on Saturday, Dawn Black cautioned British Columbians that any new face at the helm will have to answer to poor decisions made in the past.

“That new leader will have been part of the cabinet that made difficult and disastrous decisions for British Columbians. You can’t change the face and say you’re changing the substance, because the substance is exactly the same for the BC Liberals,” she insists, pointing to school closures and the BC Rail affair as examples of the poor track record.

And as for any remaining splits in her party, she says members are working well together, they’re energized, and they’re prepared for a possible early election.
