Two men implicated in a brutal drug-related assault

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – North Vancouver RCMP are pointing to two men they believe were behind a brutal beating of a 67-year-old Surrey man in September of 2009.

Cpl. Peter Devries says the victim was found in a car in Vancouver, bound hand-and-foot, with a bag over his head.  The investigation revealed the attack had actually happened in North Vancouver, and was related to marijuana grow operators.

“These types of criminal syndicates are often very difficult to investigate because the amount of cooperation you get from people involved can be weak, at best,” explains Devries.

The victim had wounds to his scalp, had multiple broken ribs, a collapsed lung, bleeding in the brain, and one of his eyes was crushed beyond repair.

Paul Defaveri, 49, of Squamish has been charged with aggravated assault and Robyn Price, 40, of Surrey has been charged with attempted murder. Both are well-known to police.
