Richmond holds emergency preparedness meeting

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – You are essentially responsible for yourself and your well being. That from the City of Richmond’s Emergency Programs Manager. That’s not sitting well with everyone at an emergency preparedness meeting.

That meeting turned into a “how prepared is the city” when a big quake hits” kind of meeting.

Where do people go for emergency supplies if an earthquake hits? And does the city have an emergency notification system? Those were just some of the questions asked at the meeting.

Erica, who was there with her husband wasn’t quite satisfied with what she heard. “People want to know facts, and I do think it’s a challenge for any municipality to get that across.”

She is taking away one valuable lesson, though. “I’m gonna come away from this meeting feeling a sense that I am very much responsible for myself, and that I will rely on the municipality as a secondary option.”
