Man who sold fake 2010 Olympic tickets arrested in the US

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A 30-year old man accused of selling fake Winter Olympic tickets has been arrested and deported back to Canada.

West Vancouver Police Corporal Jag Johal says the man used popular classfields sites Craigslist and Kijiji to sell the tickets to the 2010 Opening Ceremonies, men’s gold medal hockey game and figure skating events last year.

That led to a Canada wide warrant being issued for Sean McConnell Stuart. Two weeks ago, US police called to say they had arrested Stuart for immigration violations and he was shipped back to Canada.

Johal says, “As a result, he was held in custody and brought before the North Van Provincial Court yesterday. So his initial appearance was yesterday and he’s due to appear back in court on April the 14th.”

Police are asking Stuart be charged with fraud, including two charges of fraud over $5,000 and 26 charges of fraud under $5,000.
