International job seekers heading to Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It may be difficult to gauge the exact numbers around the 2010 Olympics‘ impact on the economy, but some experts are saying Vancouver is seeing an employment boost.

David Litherland with BC’s Summit Search Group explains the international exposure we received from the Games means several companies are looking at opening up shop here in Vancouver.

“Dealing with a lot of larger organizations, Fortune 500 type companies.  A lot of those companies are in discussions with us to create… if they didn’t have a presence here in the Vancouver-market before and the British Columbia marketplace before, they’re certainly looking to do that now.”

He adds employers in Vancouver have also been seeing an increase in the percentage of job applicants from Asia and Europe.

Litherland explains all the international media exposure over the last couple of years has made Vancouver a very attractive option.
