OTTAWA (NEWS1130) – There is more trouble for the Federal Tories. A House of Commons committee has found the Harper government in contempt of Parliament.
The 12-page report concludes the government is in contempt due to its refusal to fully disclose the cost of its tough-on-crime agenda, corporate tax cuts and plans to purchase stealth fighter jets.
This is the first time this has ever happened in Canadian history and could result in a vote of non-confidence that may trigger a spring election.
The documents are being tabled in the House of Commons today and a formal vote is expected Thursday, but the government may delay it.
