Abbotsford teacher gets a 20-year ban for viewing porn

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A former Abbotsford teacher has been banned from teaching for 20 years for looking at pornography on a school computer.

Carl James Williamson was a grade six teacher at Mennonite Educational Institute.

The BC College of Teachers says he was caught looking at adult pornography on a school computer between 2006 and 2009. It also claims he spent $8,000 on escorts.

Mykle Ludvigsen with the College says the ban only applies to BC, but if he tries to teach elsewhere, the school he’s applying to will be notified.

“Anyone in the world, when a teacher applies for a teaching certificate, they are required to produce documents that are issued directly by the issuing jurisdictions,” says Ludvigsen.

Police seized his home computer and launched an investigation, but no charges were laid.
