Civil Liberties want answers after young boy Tasered

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The latest Tasering incident by the RCMP involves an 11-year-old boy in Prince George.  The boy is the suspect in a stabbing Thursday night, and Mounties Tasered him after he came out of a neighbouring house.

David Eby with the BC Civil Liberties Association says this incident raises a lot of questions.  ‘So far that I’ve heard from the RCMP report, I don’t even know that this child was armed.”

“I think when you’re talking about an 11-year-old, you’re talking about the last possible option short of shooting them.  Shooting an 11-year-old, obviously, requires some pretty extraordinary circumstances.”

The boy and stabbing victim were both taken to hospital.  It’s unclear how the two know each other.

West Vancouver Police have taken over the investigation and they will release more information on Monday.
