Is your playoff beard up for the challenge?

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s that time of year again! the playoff beards are starting to sprout all over the place.

And if you think you have what it takes to grow a “sasquatch-ian” this year, a group of Vancouver bloggers have a playoff beard challenge for you.

To participate, simply take a picture of your beard from Day 1 through to the end of the Canucks playoff run and share it with the world on Twitter, Flickr, or on your own blog.

Chris Golden with canuckshockeyblog.com explains what it takes to win. “All we’re asking that die-hard Canucks fans do is pick a ritual, stick to it throughout the playoffs and keep on it, share with us and at the end of the day, the person who has the most passion is probably the person who is going to win.”

He says we’re only four days into the playoffs, but the response has been pretty solid. “We ran a similar venture last season, and got a good number out. This year, we’ve added the prize and that seems to have attracted a few more, but as long as we see a playoff beard galore on the streets, we’re a happy bunch of bloggers.

The NHLPA and the Heart and Stroke Foundation have also started their own beard-growing event — the Beard-a-thon, which helps the buy Automated External Defibrillators for local hockey arenas across the country.
