What’s happening around town

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Looking for something to do this weekend?  Here are some ideas for the whole family.

At the Vancouver Aquarium, the Amazon Gallery has had a full makeover, filled with Goeldi’s monkeys, a life-sized buttress root crawling with insects, and a tropical rainstorm complete with thunder and lightning cracks.

Take the kids to an Easter Bunny Breakfast at the North Shore Neighbourhood House in North Vancouver Saturday morning.  There will be breakfast, crafts, entertainment and a visit from a special guest.

There’s also an Easter Carnival at the Coal Harbour Community Centre in Vancouver.  Take the whole family for an Easter egg hunt, arts and crafts, face painting, mini petting zoo and more.

It’s Earth Day at Jericho Beach Park on Saturday.  It’s a free event that will feature guided nature tours and a plant sale.

And on the other side of town the Wildlife Rescue Association presents Earth Fest Saturday at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Pavilion.  The free event includes canoe rides, games and more.

If you’re looking to save some money, the PoMo Kids’ Swap Meet is Saturday at the Port Moody Recreation Complex.  Pick up great gear, clothing, toys and books for your children.

And finally, there’s the long-named North Shore Mothers of Multiples Spring Kid’s Swap Sale at St. David’s United Church in West Vancouver.  Check out hundreds of gently used toys, clothing, books and gear for babies and children on sale.
