OTTAWA, Ont. – Conservative leader Stephen Harper said he wants to challenge Canadians to vote for his party and for a strong Canadian economy.
Speaking in Waterloo on Wednesday, Harper said the growing popularity of the NDP under Jack Layton’s leadership “actually clarifies the choice for Canadians.”
Harper said the orange surge makes for a stark choice between the Conservatives and a coalition government of high spending and taxes, and constitutional “diversions”, while the Conservatives have a proven track record on economic growth.
Harper was attending a manufacturer of hockey rink boards, where he twice made jokes about slamming someone into the reinforced fibreglass panels used in hockey arenas.
